A Thanksgiving Prayer

aHo! Mitakuye Oyasin! Wakan Tanka! Tunkashila!

Great and Eternal Mystery! Great Spirit!

I come to you in this humble way to offer my gratitude and thanks for this light and this life. This beauty way.

And so I pray…

We give thanks to our mother, the Earth, who holds us gently in her arms and sustains us.
We give thanks to father Sky, who brings us the rain that fills the rivers and streams, which supply us with water.
We give thanks to all the plant nation people. The herbs, which furnish medicines for the cure of our diseases. The corn, and to her sisters, the beans and squash, which give us life. The bushes and trees, which provide us with fruit.
We give thanks to the wind, which moves fresh clean air to us.
We gives thanks to the Moon, Grandmother Nissa, and the star nation people, which give us their light when the sun is gone.
We give thanks to Grandfather Sun, that he has looked upon the earth with a beneficent eye and brought warmth and light.
Lastly, we give thanks to Great Spirit in whom is embodied all goodness, all life and all love.

In Love, Gratitude and Great Thanksgiving! Wastelo!
